Spend a weekend in Atlanta learning with other ACS mathematics faculty
This symposium is intended for mathematics faculty (including statistics and data science faculty) with or without experience discussing social issues and social justice topics in a collegiate environment. Junior faculty who are interested in learning about different pedagogical tools and developing curriculum materials for their own or their department's mathematics courses are especially encouraged to attend. A limited number of spaces are available.
THE APPLICATION DEADLINE WAS FRIDAY APRIL 12, 2019
The overarching goal of the symposium is to inspire mathematics faculty to understand the importance of teaching mathematics for social justice and provide them with the tools to nurture new approaches in mathematics classrooms. We imagine that the symposium will help faculty by teaching them how to design modules on issues of social justice. To help motivate other faculty in this area, participants will be able to publish their completed modules to share their experience with the symposium, exchange ideas, and see new ways of thinking even after the workshop is completed.
